Public Sector Tenders
An Overview:
The public sector tendering process fits within a European Community framework.
The framework is implemented in the UK through the Office of Government
Commerce. Strict rules apply for tenders over a certain size (circa £100,000)
that define the type of tendering and how such tenders should be publicised (in
the Official Journal of the European Community, OJEC).
Below the threshold strict application of the rules becomes implementation of
the principles behind the rules. The most visible difference in the approaches
is the lack of a single publicity source for the below benchmark tenders.
