Basel 11 and Asset Finance |
Asset Finance Systems |
|
| Asset Finance Software The internal processes required to support asset finance varies across markets as defined by either asset or customer type. The operational risk associated with these processes also varies as does the asset finance software system designed to manage the process. Can the specification for premium finance software package be expected to incorporate the features required in motor finance software systems? Leasing and financing systems that address the consumer market have little requirements for the features in a wholesale finance software application. The leasing systems appropriate for telecommunication assets would clearly not be met by a motor finance software system. There are however common processes, rental collection is as an important element of a wholesale finance software package as any other asset finance software package. With compromise a single rental collection software package could be envisaged. Essentially the wider the asset and customer base a financier addresses the less innovative is the service that the internal processes can support. Banks utilizing the advanced IRB approach to credit can offset any service disadvantages through price. For all others the compromise in services is more difficult to offset and a focus on specific assets or customer type becomes more likely. For general lessors who cannot aspire to advanced IRB status asset or market specialization would seem the only alternative. |
